UNHOLYATH
Antidogma (2013) By xDemoNx

Ukrainian scene has always been special to me because, apart from the talent that i think it exists there, the most of the bands put out sincerity and true love for Black Metal. One of those bands is Unholyath which consists of three members, they were formed in 2005 and they have released two full length albums. Their second album is named “Antidogma”, was released in January of 2013 and contains nine compositions, two of which are covers (Beastcraft και Carpathian Forest), forty five minutes long. The music that they present us is Scandinavian Black Metal with many Thrash influences and beautiful rhythmic passages.

The riffs that we find here mainly are fast, violent tremolo riffs. Also there are a lot of rhythmic Thrash parts while the atmospheric, dark, slow passages are present too. Unholyath, although they don't offer anything original, they have managed to create very interesting riffs and to connect them very well. So all the tracks are interesting, others more others less, but all of them can offer a good experience to the listener, while the nicely covered tracks complete the already good album. The guitars are distorted but their sound is clean, they have good technic and they deliver the riffs with accuracy but also with much passion. The bass can’t be heard clearly but it fills the sound very well.

Another of the elements which make the album to be special, are the drums. Their lines are powerful, with a lot of changes, while technically they are perfect giving the confidence and stability that the drums must always give. The vocals are harsh Black Metal vocals, very violent and expressive. Concerning the production and the mixture of the album, the band has done a very good job here too. The sound comes out massive, with depth, as bassy as it should be, while every instrument is at the right volume. The lyrics are written in Russian and they are not contained inside the cd. It is not necessary for someone to read the bands statement in order to understand that the lyrics are violent and against humanity.

“Antidogma” is a very good album. Unholyath have taken care of everything for this album, by the composition to the cover artwork, something that shows apart from their professionalism, their talent and their love for Black Metal. I liked the album a lot and I think that it will satisfy you. Buy it without fear.
